Friday Night

8" x 10"
I found corn in Trader Joe's tonight. Still having a good time painting food out of the refrigerator. I'll just stick with this until it doesn't feel right. Today was a really good day. Ashley is home for the week-end, Mia arrives on Sunday and with any luck Ariel will come up too. Then I finally got an interview for a job, then I opened the mail and found a contract fro the signal box project. I know eventually I would get to do one but Long Beach chose two artists to get started right away, and I get to be one of them.
I'll be at Long Beach Blvd. and Roosevelt. Here they are my studies again.

Tuesday night lemons

6" x 8"
This is really the last night painting in the dining room. Granny gave me some of Billy Doolittle's lemons so I felt that enough reason to stay inside one more time. Getting out early tomorrow to Mulholland unless it's raining  ( in late May). Thinking of the wildflowers on Thursday. Everyone reports purple flowers that aren't lupines on the other side of the Grapevine.

Jeff got these at Farmer's market  yesterday. 11 o'clock. I'm tired but hope to go outside tomorrow. I'm painting these still life ptgs at home in the dining room. It's just a matter of time before paint gets all over something. These are taking more time than I thought. but maybe I'll pick up speed.

Wednesday

I did this last night but it needed some more paint today. so I'll do another painting today and then I'll still be on track.

Saturday - just in time

6" x 8"
I just finished this and it's still Saturday. I had class in the am, ran around in the afternoon. Jeff is moving his gallery and also has to drive to the bay area tonight. I wanted to get outside but couldn't til 7 when he finally took off.  I found a good spot to paint but the light was changing, the fog was coming in and it was cold...and windy So I drove to Von's and bought pears and red onions.

thursday

it's really hard to make a painting on demand. I applied for a teaching position today- one that I need and would actually want to do, REALLY. took me two days. cover letter, teaching philosophy, cd with student work and personal work and the personal work printed out. then I got there and the secretary was just buried in applications. how many 100's of other applicants are there.
here's my painting

study for the signal control boxes in Long Beach

I am applying to paint signal control boxes in Long Beach again. I love this format. This study measures 12" x 6". Wouldn't it be good to see this as you were driving down the street. My other mural is at the corner of 6th and Elm for those of you from Long Beach.
